Esperanza Campaña is partner and cofounder at Architectural Matter, a professional practice focussed on the pedagogic potential of architecture regardless of location, typology or scale. Together with Gustavo Rojas she has been awarded several prizes, most notably as with the Melilla Social Housing or the Ibiza Conservatory of Music competitions.
She holds a Ph.D. in Architecture with Summa Cum Laude from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and is an alumnus of the Master in Collective Housing (2009). She is a member of the Research Group on Collective Housing at the Polytechnic University of Madrid with participation in several publications and R&D&i projects funded in competitive tender by state institutions.
She has been a visiting researcher at the ETH Zürich and until 2016 she has taught in different Graduate Design Studios at the Department of Architectural Design of the School of Architecture of Madrid. Currently, she is involved in an alternative small-scale educational initiative concerning the communication between architect and client.
