In this era of technological advances and the incorporation of new techniques for the development of professional activities, the world of architecture has not been left behind. Currently, architects increasingly use advanced programs to develop their projects. In this article, we will talk about the most used architecture software and their features.

Currently, there are numerous computer programs that offer infinite possibilities without the need for a really powerful computer. We can distinguish them in BIM and CAD programs.

The most used architecture software by architects

Revit Autodesk

This BIM software is one of the most complete options. Its design process is based on smart 3D objects that, while occupying its place in space, also contain the information about their measurements, areas, etc. It also gives you the possibility to add other additional information, such as the type of material or its function in the building.

This is one of the most demanded architecture software by architects.

Archicad

Archicad is one of the most used architecture software and it has been operational since the 80’s, being one of the first that allowed 2D and 3D design. Recently, version number 22 has been launched.

In the first original version, it was a CAD program, although at present it has implemented the latest technologies in order to work on BIM systems. It works through parametric drawings, based mainly on basic parameters such as width, height or elevation.

VectorWorks

Originally, this was a CAD program and now it is also BIM. It is economical and complete for architecture. It is also easy to use and simplifies the design for 2D and 3D projects.

This is a very customizable architecture software, and we can add a library of common symbols or easily import design elements in various formats, such as PDF or DWG.

Photoshop

Photoshop is one of the most used programs in the world, for sure. Professionals from different fields have found an ally in this tool. This is not different in the architecture field, where we can find different ideal functions for the design of projects.

This software is versatile and allows creating elements to show a professional project by adding smart objects and lighting which highlight the final idea in presentations for clients.

Sketchup

This is one of the easier modeling programs on the market. In addition to allowing the option to draw from scratch, it also has a very extensive library of pre-designed models and materials.

Skechtup is one of the most used architecture software. This is a very attractive and easy-to-use software that also does not need many system specifications to use it properly.

3D Studio Max

This one is just a really good 3D and rendering software with a high level of realism. It is one of the most demanded because it has results that border on reality.

It has been used in various fields such as film or video games, and undoubtedly, for architecture. This is one of the software that offers the most polished result and a really high aesthetic.

AutoCAD

This tool is the flagship product of Autodesk. AutoCAD is a software to design infrastructures and parts of all kinds, which also allows working with blueprints in two and three dimensions. In addition, it has a photorealistic rendering system.

This architectural software was released in the 1980s and quickly became the reference program for CAD design.

Fusion 360

Fusion 360 helps students and educators prepare for the future of design. It's the first 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE tool of its kind, connecting your entire product development process into one cloud-based platform.

Rhino

Rhinoceros, also known as Rhino or Rhino3D, is a 3D CAD modeling software package that enables you to accurately model your designs ready for rendering, animation, drafting, engineering, analysis, and manufacturing. Rhino is a free-form NURBS surface modeler.

Those are some of the architecture software most used by architects but we can say that other software commonly demanded are Illustrator, Maya, AllPlan, and Rhinoceros.
