The design of buildings and urban areas, followed by the supervision of their construction are the main tasks of the architects. Architecture is a university degree, but you can always continue learning about this issue through different courses and masters. In this post, we talk about the types of architecture courses you can find to complement your training as an architect.

What types of Architecture courses are there?

You can choose between different types of courses if you want to study architecture. From accredited degrees to short-term seminars that can contribute your knowledge in more specific subjects.

Degrees

The official university degrees that exist in Spain for anyone who wants to dedicate to architecture are two: Degree in Architecture and Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture.

Degree in Architecture

We can find this offer of studies in many universities throughout Spain, both public and private centers. Currently, this is the most common way among those who want to be architects. It consists of five one-year terms plus a final year project.

Degrees in Fundamentals of Architecture

This is the newest educational program that consists of five one-year terms and the final dissertation project. A Master’s Degree is necessary to be accredited to perform the profession of architect.

Master's and Postgraduate programs

Within the studies of Architecture, we can find different Master’s programs that can be studied in different private and public universities in the country.

Some of the master´s programs that we can find are: Master of Interior Design, Master in City and urban planning, Master in 3D and visualizations, or our Master in Collective Housing.

The offer in postgraduate courses is also very varied. Some examples are the Postgraduate in Eco-habitat or the Postgraduate in Architectural Lighting Design.

Seminars and other courses

In addition to the accredited training of Degrees and Masters, we can find great diversity in terms of types of architecture courses that help us complement our training in specific fields.

We can find full-presential and online architecture courses. To access some of them is necessary to have some basic knowledge or a degree, but there are others that we can access if we are just amateur or we want to train very specific skills.

Many of the courses are complementary and give us credits to the Degree of Architecture and you can take them at the same time because they usually have a short duration.

This type of short-length courses (a maximum of 6 months in some cases) can be found in universities and private schools.

Examples of this type of training are: Online Urban Planning Course, Building Energy Efficiency Course (semi-classroom), 3Ds Max Course, Online Course on Road Construction Expert (online), among others.

The best architecture courses do not have to be the most expensive and the whole thing has to do with what we are looking for. The list of specific courses on architecture topics in Spain is quite large and the price of the courses is also diverse. We can find two-moths length online courses for € 50, and courses of 6 months for a price of € 3000.

We hope this post about the types of architecture courses has helped you understand which kind of study you want to take soon. See you soon!
