MCH Master Admissions
The MCH is a postgraduate architecture Master in Collective Housing, offered jointly by UPM Madrid and ETH Zurich, and fully taught in English. It is one of the few postgraduate architecture programs in Europe focused exclusively on collective housing design, urban housing research, and housing policy.
The program is open to architects and graduates in related disciplines who want to specialise in one of the most relevant challenges of contemporary cities.

What Happens After You Apply?
1. Confirmation email — You will receive an automatic confirmation within 24 hours of submitting your application.
2. Review — The MCH admissions committee reviews all applications. This process takes approximately 2 – 4 weeks.
3. Interview — Selected candidates are invited to an online interview with the program directors.
4. Decision — Final admission decisions are communicated by email. Accepted students receive instructions to confirm their place.

Admissions FAQs
What documents do I need to apply to MCH?
You will need to upload your CV, a portfolio of your work, and a motivation letter. Up to two recommendation letters are optional but recommended. You will also need to provide your university degree details and indicate your level of English proficiency.
When is the application deadline?
Applications for MCH 2027 are open until 30 January. We recommend applying early, as the number of places is limited and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
How long does the admission process take?
After submitting your application, you will receive an automatic confirmation within 24 hours. The admissions committee reviews all applications over approximately 2 to 4 weeks. Selected candidates are then invited to an online interview with the program directors, after which final decisions are communicated by email.
Is there an interview as part of the application?
Yes. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an online interview with the MCH program directors. The interview is conducted in English and is part of the final evaluation stage.
Can I apply if I am not an architect?
Yes. MCH is open to architects and graduates from related disciplines — including urban planning, interior architecture, civil engineering, or related design fields — who want to specialise in collective housing and urban design.
Is the program taught in English?
Yes, MCH is fully taught in English. A minimum level of B2 is required to follow the program comfortably. You will be asked to indicate your English proficiency level in the application form.
What is the maximum file size for uploaded documents?
Each document — CV, portfolio, motivation letter, and recommendation letters — can be up to 10 MB per file.
