The MCH study program offers a rich array of visits and field trips, both within Spain and internationally, providing participants with invaluable first-hand experience in collective housing developments. These trips are carefully curated to include visits to prominent architectural studios known for their innovative work in residential architecture, as well as tours of iconic projects that serve as exemplary case studies. Each visit is guided by esteemed architects and industry experts, ensuring that participants gain deep insights into the design processes, challenges, and solutions that define modern collective housing.

One of the program’s unique features is that all travel expenses—such as transportation, hotel accommodations, scheduled visits, and bus services—are included in the registration fee, making the experience seamless and accessible. However, participants should note that personal expenses are not covered.

In past editions, MCH has organized excursions to architectural hotspots like the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. These trips offer participants the rare opportunity to explore some of the world’s most significant residential buildings and engage directly with leading architectural firms and housing-related companies. Such exposure enhances the learning experience, broadens professional networks, and deepens participants’ understanding of contemporary architectural practices in diverse cultural contexts.

International trips

The international study trip is one of the highlights of the academic program.

Thanks to the agreement with the ETH Zurich, the most prestigious technical university in the world, Switzerland has been the most frequent destination during the last editions, allowing us access to the university’s facilities, as well as visiting important architecture studios, among them we can find EMI Architekten, Boltshauser Architekten, Steib Gmür Geschwentner Kyburz Architekten, Gigon-Guyer, SAM Architekten, E2A and Müller Sigrits Architekten  among others.

Day trips

Each edition the MCH plans several day trips within the framework of its specialties. The study trips to Madrid and surroundings allow visiting different neighborhoods and collective housing buildings in order to study and understand these places in terms of collective and urban dynamics. The day trips are always guided by MCH professors and specialists in housing and urbanism. There are also visits to different architecture offices where they show MCH participants some of their projects and how the offices work.

Studio visits

As part of our career advice program, we are keen to gain a deeper understanding of the internal dynamics, workflows, and organizational cultures of contemporary architecture firms. Our goal is to explore how these offices operate on a day-to-day basis, how teams collaborate, and what skills and experiences are most valued in the profession. By gathering these insights, we aim to identify the most suitable career paths and opportunities for our students, helping them make informed decisions as they prepare to enter the architecture industry.
