2024 Class – New Technologies in Architectural Design / Sergio del Castillo
Cover by student Julio Ferré
Specialty Leader: Sergio del Castillo Tello
How can architects deploy abstract thinking methods to discover new avenues of design exploration?
As part of the new courses offered by MCH, this month students participated in the seminar of the new course on New Technologies in Architectural Design, focusing on the analysis and implementation of new AI-powered software to accelerate the design and representation process.
Led by Sergio del Castillo Tello (miaustic) and featuring the participation of Professor John Porral, students were introduced to the basics of programming, constructive algorithms, space planning, automation, building and city information modeling (BIM/CIM), parametric design, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning in architectural processes.
As part of the assignment, the students were required to create a simple 3D model, and subsequently, using artificial intelligence and following various instructions and references, generate high-quality images based on that model.
For the 2025 edition, this course will become part of a new specialization aimed at equipping students with new tools and providing insights into the technologies that are expected to shape trends in the coming years.
