Héctor Barroso
Architect and founder of Taller Héctor Barroso. Since establishing the practice in 2011, his work has focused on an architecture deeply rooted in place, where materiality, light, vegetation, and atmospheric conditions become essential components of each project. Under his leadership, the studio has developed a distinctive architectural language that balances emotion, permanence, and material rigor.
His work has been presented at international architecture conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and forums. His academic engagements include lectures at Rice University, the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), and Roger Williams University. In 2018, he participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale as part of the Mexico Pavilion, Echoes of Land.
In 2021, Taller Héctor Barroso was the subject of a monograph published by El Croquis, featuring a selection of the studio’s work and architectural thinking. In 2024, the practice received the RIBA International Award for Excellence, presented by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
