Carlota de Gispert
Carlota de Gispert is an architect and co-founder of Cierto Estudio, an architecture firm established in Barcelona in 2014 alongside her five partners. Since then, the team has grown and consolidated its professional practice across both public and private work, bringing the same level of rigour to all scales — from large urbanism and collective housing projects to detailed interior design and bespoke interventions.
Among their most recognised works is the project of 51 affordable housing units at Plaça de les Glòries in Barcelona, won through first prize at the international competition held by IMHAB in 2017. The recently completed building has been nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2025. The studio is also behind 67 social housing units in El Masnou for IMPSOL, and the LUMI 2.0 project in Bordeaux — awarded first prize in an international competition in France — which has extended their reach beyond national borders.
In the field of urbanism and public space, the studio was awarded at the Nous Eixos Verds – Superilles Barcelona competition and authored the redesign of Consell de Cent street, the main axis of the Superilla de l’Eixample, recently completed and recognised with the Premio Arquia/Próxima 2024.
The studio’s practice is not confined to a single scale or typology. Renovations, interior design, furniture design and exhibitions are all part of the same architectural intent: to work with rigour and a distinct character across any type of commission.
Teaching has been a constant throughout their career. They have led workshops and courses at TU Graz (Austria), ETSALS and UIC in Barcelona, and Tec de Monterrey (Mexico). In 2025, Cierto Estudio begins teaching at EPFL in Lausanne — the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology — reinforcing the ongoing dialogue between professional practice and academic research.
