Arantza Ozaeta

Arantza Ozaeta Cortázar is an architect and professor at the Madrid School of Architecture (UPM) since 2019, she also teaches in the Interior Design undergraduate program and in the Master in Collective Housing (MCH), a joint program with ETH Zurich. Her academic practice is international, having taught a studio at the Architectural Association in London and as a visiting professor at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy and at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany. At ETSAM, she has co-curated and published the lecture series “argument #5: Proximities” (Asimétricas, 2021), “TAG. Themes, Architectures, Genealogies,” vols. I and II (Asimétricas, 2025), and served as a member of the organizing and scientific committee for the international conference “EDUMEET: Transglossary for a Pluriversity” (Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, 2025). She also earned a DEA (Diploma of Advanced Studies) from the UPM.

She is a co-founder of the architecture firm ‘Ozaeta-Fidalgo’ which focuses on architectural and urban planning projects related to regeneration, intergenerational care, and sustainable spatial strategies. Her professional and research interests center on architecture as a tool for material, social, and urban transformation. She co-directs the firm with Alvaro Martín Fidalgo, who is also a professor in the Department of Projects.

Arantza Ozaeta has won and built projects for national and international competitions, and her work has been recognized on numerous occasions, including the Architectural Record Design Vanguard Award (2025), the Bauwelt Prize (2013), the COAM-Luis Moreno Mansilla Award (2013), the FAD Award for Reflection and Criticism (2016) in collaboration with the publisher HipoTesis, and the Europe 40under40 (2017). Her work has also been selected and exhibited at the Spanish Architecture Biennial (2013–2021), FAD International (2014), and FAD Architecture (2020). Her work has been featured numerous times in magazines such as A+U, Arquitectura Viva, Architectural Record, A10, Bauwelt, Plot, Detail, and Domus.
