Alejandro Caraballo Llorente
Alejandro Caraballo Llorente is architect (ETSAM, 2020), Master’s in Advanced Architectural Design (ETSAM, 2024) and self-taught photographer.
Following his academic training, he co-founded CRAC · Taller de Arquitectura with Carlos Rebolo, through which he develops his professional practice as an architect, adopting a transversal approach to the discipline with a special hint on urban design and experimental housing programs. He has worked on numerous projects and competitions, collaborating with award-winning offices such as Rojo/Fernández-Shaw or ArenasBasabePalacios. Alongside his architectural practice, he is also founder of Hiperfocal, a collaborative photography studio focused on contemporary architectural image.
Alejandro has been invited as professor and lecturer in ETSAM (2020-), AF Zagreb (2026), IESARQ (2022) and Universidad del Valle (2020). In 2020, He took part in the Think Tank “Imagining Futures” organised by the Norman Foster Foundation, in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano, where he developed research critically examining the functional design of Foster’s work through an ontological perspective on the architectural object. In 2017, he co- developed the project Incomplete, Unfinished, Open with the SkimmerPool collective, published in the InTransit Festival at UCM and in the Spanish Virtual Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
As a researcher, he has curated and designed the exhibitions and programs of “Capital Reform” (2025), “SI:IF” (2023-2025), and “Urban Mash-up” (2024). His approach of the connections between contemporary imagery and architecture has taken shape in various formats and publications such as “Through the looking glass” (UPM, 2024), “Research, speculation, communication” (CPA ETSAM, 2025), DEARCH #01 (Lulu Press, 2024).
His architectural work has been awarded by Europan 18, Europan 17, CAPBA, MITMA, COAM, Felix Candela Award, 12×12, Design the Future and Ideas Forward and has been published in magazines and media such as Bauwelt, Azure, Arquitectura Viva, C3Korea, Hidden Architecture or Dwell.
