Elena Martínez-Millana
Elena Martínez-Millana is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architectural Design at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Previously, she held a Margarita Salas postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Next Generation European Union programme (2022–2025) at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). Elena holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in Advanced Architectural Design from UPM, awarded with the distinction Cum Laude and International Doctorate, and she received UPM’s Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Award (2020–2021).
Her research focuses on the theory and history of collective housing in modern Western societies, examining its intersections with social, political and cultural dimensions. She is currently a member of the Càtedra Innovació en Habitatge (UPV) and Visiting Scholar at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta), ETH Zurich. She has previously been part of the research groups Vivienda Colectiva (UPM) and Architecture, Culture and Modernity (TU Delft), as well as an associate researcher at the Jaap Bakema Study Centre at the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam.
