//deAbajoGarcía// is an architectural office founded by Carlos García Fernández (1982, Asturias) and Begoña de Abajo Castrillo (1986, León) in New York in 2013. They are currently based in Madrid.
They understand architecture as an assebly of experiences within the fields of design, construction and academy. They share their interest for the combination of their practice with pedagogy and research in architecture.
Carlos and Begoña are architects from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) and they both have been Fulbright Fellows at Columbia University in New York, where they have graduated from the Master of Science in Advance Architectural Design.
Concurrently to their professional practice they are currently developing their research and teaching work at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
 
Carlos García Fernández holds a PhD in Architecture, a Master from Columbia University in New York where he studied as a Fulbright Fellow and he is Architect from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM). He also studied at TU Delft in Holland 
as an international student and he collaborated with Jesus Aparicio Office for a few years while being a student. As an independent architect he has won several prizes in architectural ideas competitions by himself and working with other colleagues. 
He has been scholar at the Spanish Academy in Rome and  researcher at Keio University in Kazuyo Sejima´s Lab. He is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Architectural Projects Department at ETSAM.
