Jaume Mayol
Irene Pérez (Barcelona, 1976) and Jaume Mayol (Mallorca, 1976) graduated from the ETSA Vallés. They run the studio TEd’A arquitectes, based in Mallorca.
TEd’A arquitectes’ work focuses on local resources, local materials and local typologies. They use to say that they prefer evolution to revolution.
They prefer to work with small scale projects and they mainly work in the island of Mallorca. However, they also develop other projects abroad. At the moment they are building a church in Herentals (Belgium), a school building in Girona (Spain) and another school in Cugy (Switzerland).
Their work has received different awards, among which stand the Spanish Biennial BEAU XV award in 2021, and the BEAU XIV in 2018, the international FAD award 2018, the interior FAD award 2018 or the Brick award 2020. They have been twice selected as finalist for the Swiss Award, 2020 and 2022. Last year 2025 they received the La Casa de La Arquitectura Award 2025 for Can Gabriel, the Grand Prize Big Mat in the category of proximity for Ca na Birgit, the Holcim Sustainable Award in the region of Europe for the school in Gaüses and the Spanish Biennial BEAU XVII award also for Can Gabriel.
Irene and Jaume combine their professional practice with teaching. At the moment Jaume is teaching at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, Switzerland. Before they were involved as professors at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, at the University of Stuttgart, at the TU Graz, at the TU Munich, or at the ETSA Vallés or La Salle in Barcelona.
