Jose Toral
José Toral trained academically at the Escola d’Arquitectura Superior de Barcelona and professionally in Rafael Moneo’s office. Since 2003 he is an architect by the ETSAB and since 2005 he is partner of the studio PERIS+TORAL ARQUITECTES together with his partner Marta Peris, where they are dedicated to the research of new ways of living associated with new ways of building. Their focus is on facing the challenges of climate and housing emergence.
Since 2016 he has been an associate professor in the Department of Architectural Design at the ETSAB UPC, he was visiting professor at the Politecnico di Milano at the Milano International Design Studio 2023 and since 2024 he is guest professor at the EPFL Lausanne.
His work, together with that of his partner Marta Peris, has been recognized with the RIBA INTERNATIONAL 2024 award, the CSCAE 2022 SPANISH ARCHITECTURE AWARD. They have been finalists of the EU MIES AWARD 2022 and their works have been exhibited at the Cité de l’Architecture de PARIS 2022, Best architecture exhibition Spain-Korea SEOUL 2021, at the Spanish Pavilion of the Biennale of VENICE 2016 and 2025, at the UIA TOKYO 2011, among others. Both his works and his writings have been widely published in national and international magazines and media.
