Maite Verdú Martínez

She graduated in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. A civil servant and member of the Corps of Architects of the Spanish Public Treasury, she holds a Master’s Degree in Urban and Territorial Planning from the Menéndez Pelayo International University (Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo) and a Master’s Degree in Public Management from the National Institute of Public Administration (Instituto Nacional de Administración Pública).

With a strong vocation for public service, much of her career has been devoted to sustainability, building decarbonization, and policies related to architecture, urban regeneration, and the built environment.

After holding various management positions in both the State Administration and Local Government, she currently serves as Director General for Urban Agenda and Architecture at the Spanish Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda.

In this role, she is leading a profound transformation in the way buildings are designed and constructed within the public sector, driving reforms to the Technical Building Code and the National Building Renovation Plan, while also spearheading the Zero-Emission Architecture Project (ARCE_2050).

She has also played a key role in advancing the implementation of the Spanish Urban Agenda and is currently leading work on the Metropolitan Urban Agenda as a strategic framework for integrated territorial planning aimed at fostering more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable cities.
