Pau Bajet

Climate, Metabolism and Architecture

Pau Bajet Mena, born in Barcelona in 1988, is a distinguished architect known for his innovative approach to contemporary architecture. He graduated with honours from the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) in 2013, receiving the first prize in the Hunter Douglas Award. In 2015, he was awarded the La Caixa Fellowship to pursue a PhD ‘by design’ at London Metropolitan University, where he successfully defended his thesis in 2023, exploring the use of time as an architectural design tool. bajetgirame.com

After four years at David Chipperfield Architects in London, Bajet co-founded the studio Bajet Giramé in 2017 with Maria Giramé in Barcelona. The studio is characterized by its collaborative and multidisciplinary approach, developing architectural projects, urban prototypes, publications, and research. Notable recent projects include 83 senior cohousing units with public amenities for the Barcelona City Council, 72 social housing units for the Prat de Llobregat City Council, the transformation of a rural campsite in the Ebro Delta, and urban planning for the municipality of Alcanar. In addition to his professional practice, Pau Bajet combines his work with teaching and research. He is a professor of Architectural Design at ETSAB (UPC) and at the Master’s Program in Integrated Architectural Design (MIAD) at ETSALS. He has also taught at Birmingham City University and London Metropolitan University.

In 2023, he was selected as a co-curator for the UIA World Congress of Architecture to be held in Barcelona in 2026, with the proposal «Becoming, architectures for a planet in transition,» addressing contemporary architectural challenges from a temporal and transformative perspective
