Sara Ferran
Founding member of the cooperative TALLER11. The study bases its architecture in the development of projects that detect the potential of the environment and innovates in the traditional solutions in order to make them viable in the current context. The methodological work always combines theorical investigation and practical experimentation. Its work has been recognized by the awards: FAD architecture, Erich Mendelsohn, XVI BEAU, CSCAE and have won the AJAC XII and Arquia Innova 2024. The study was part of the exhibition FAD 2023 “The best design of the year” and the Biennale of Young Architecture of Catalonia by AJAC. Taller11’s projects have been published in numerous magazines such as El Croquis, Arquitectura Viva, ON diseño and DETAIL.
Sara Ferran studied architecture at the ETSAV. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2017 and the master’s degree in architecture in 2018, both with honors with distinction. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Architectural Projects at the UPC. Her academic path also includes an international exchange at the FAU (USP, São Paulo) in 2015-2016 and participation in the Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 competition with ETSAV.
In terms of research, she has been involved in two significant projects. She was a team member in the Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 competition in Versailles, as part of the ETSAV UPC team RESSÒ, from 2012 to 2014. Recently, taller11 developed a research on low-impact lime concretes with the support of «Singular Projects» grant, and related to the topic of her doctoral thesis
In 2024, she was a professor for the elective course “Other Concretes» organized by taller11 at ETSAV. In 2023, she worked as an assistant professor in the teaching team for the TAPV «Housing and Technology» Projects course at ETSAV. Between 2020 and 2022, she worked as a junior professor in the beginning-of-year workshop at ETSAV.
