Sonia Molina Metzger

Sonia Molina Metzger (Madrid 1973) is Shelter and Settlement, as well as Water and Sanitation Specialist in Humanitarian Responses.

Her background is Architecture and Urban Planning, graduated from the ETSAM.

In 2002 she did the Post-graduate and specialization Degree on «Development Cooperation in Precarious Human Settlements», at the ICHaB (UPM) in Madrid.

She worked several years in Spain as freelance architect and urban planner collaborating with different architecture offices.

In 2005 she decided to change the course of her professional career and went to Indonesia after the Tsunami with the Red Cross, managing a shelter emergency and reconstruction programme for almost 2 years.

Thereafter, she has been working in the Humanitarian Sector in different Regions, Contexts, Type of disasters and projects like in Peru, Ecuador, Haiti, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Morocco, Kurdistan, Mongolia or Philippines, mainly for the Red Cross Movement, but also other NGOs.

She works since 2015 as independent consultant providing technical advice, doing project evaluations, supporting innovation in the sector, supporting NGOs field work and doing trainings.
