Alvaro Ardura Urquiaga
Alvaro Ardura Urquiaga is a PhD Architect by the School of Architecture of Madrid, where he is currently teaching as Tenure Lecturer / Associate Professor at the Urban Planning Department. He is researcher in the of the Interdisciplinary Lab on Complex Urban & Regional Spatial processes research group, focusing his research on the topics of gentrification, touristification, urban regeneration, housing, and governance.
He has worked both in urban planning and building construction. He is an specialist in urban planning and urban regeneration, and has participated in the teams responsable for some of the biggest urban projects in Madrid, such as Operación Chamartin (2003-2010) or Operación Campamento.
He is co-author of First We Take Manhattan. La Destrucción Creativa de las Ciudades (First We Take Manhattan. The creative destruction of cities) along with Daniel Sorando, and Madrid 1900-2010. Guía de Planeamiento y diseño urbano (Madrid 1900-2010. Guide of Urban Planning & Design).
